Introduction to Long Range Shooting Operator Course – 2 Day – 6/22 – 6/23

This course is designed to teach the core skills required to effectively engage targets at an extended distance with a precision rifle. The student will be immersed in all the technical aspects of weapon and scope set up, understanding of key fundamentals to consistently delivering precise fire and methods of reading the environment. This course will be taught by members of Law Enforcement and the Special Operations Community.
*This course may require some moderate physical activity.

- Understanding the scope and rifle
- Fitting the rifle
- Precision rifle cleaning
- Introduction to units of measurement
- Ballistics and reading wind
- Fundamentals of shooting a precision rifle and rapid bolt manipulation
- Working with a spotter
- Basic use of a ballistic program
- Engagement of targets at intermediate and long ranges

Lodging
There are a variety of hotels located in Martinsburg West Virginia and Winchester Virginia that are 30 minutes from the facility.
Requirements
Firearms Requirements:
- Precision rifle, bolt action or semi auto (capable of shooting a 5 round group of 1 inch or less at 100 yards) in 5.56mm or greater with bipod (must have cant built in)
- Once piece cleaning rod, bore guide and cleaning equipment (patches and jag)
- Squeeze bag for stock
- Spotting Scope and Tripod
- Kestrel windmeter (if you do not have one, we will have Kestrel 5700 windmeters for students to use)
Not required but suggested
- Range Finder
Students must provide their own rifles. There will be no rental weapons.
Ammunition Requirements:
- 200 rounds match ammunition

- Hearing Protection

- Boots / Hiking Shoes
- Water Bottle
- Clothing Appropriate for conditions

FAQ
What does the cost of registration cover?
Cost will cover the course only. The student is responsible for costs associated with travel, lodging, meals (unless otherwise indicated), firearms (unless a loaner is requested), ammunition, and personal gear.
Do I need a background check to attend training?
Yes, unless you have a current state issued concealed carry permit.
*If so, then you will need to upload a copy of your permit and driver’s license during registration in lieu of a background check.
I don’t have a concealed carry permit. How do I obtain a background check?
Sentry Link offers a National Criminal Background Check for a fee of $19.95 per report.
Once the report is obtained send the report to training@iwi.us to have it included with your registration packet. You can send the report via the “Share” button.
How do I pay for the course?
During the registration process, you will be asked to enter your payment information or voucher code in order to pay for the course. This payment is required to hold your place in the course due to class limits and the management of student / instructor ratios. Cost covers the course only (unless otherwise indicated). Students are responsible for costs associated with travel, lodging, meals, firearms (unless a loaner is requested), ammunition, and personal gear.
Refund/Reschedule Policy:
- Cancellations: If you cancel no later than 30 days prior to the start of your course, your payment can be applied to a future course for up to one year. If you cancel within 30 days of your course start date, your payment is non-refundable. However, that balance may be applied to another course within one year.
- Refunds: You can receive a full refund up to 30 days prior to the start of your course. Any amount over $250 is fully transferable or refundable if you cannot make the class for any reason, with or without notice.
- Re-Schedules: You can reschedule up to 2 times without penalty. After that you are no longer eligible to transfer your payment to a future course and forfeit your refund.

The IWI Academy was originally built around training the venerable Tavor SAR/ X95. The class has expanded to include all bullpup related rifles and since its’s inception, the Academy has grown to include offerings in pistol, AK, Galil, and precision rifle courses. The courses range from creating initial performance baselines to advanced applications of skills.
Students that attend the program will learn every aspect of their system to include function and maintenance through efficient, performance driven deployment in a variety of scenarios, lighting conditions and stress. This is accomplished through building block training that interfaces with systems across the platforms.
Our instructors are hand selected from the Law Enforcement and Special Operations Community. They were chosen for their knowledge, communication skills, performance and professionalism in training a wide variety of students. No matter which instructor you train with, our program is structured so there is consistency across the board. From beginning to end, your experience will build on itself to raise you to your highest potential.
